SOC 2 Type 2 certification is a compliance framework that evaluates an organization’s ability to securely manage customer data based on the Trust Services Criteria: Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy.

Unlike SOC 2 Type 1, which assesses controls at a specific point in time, Type 2 examines the effectiveness of these controls over a period (typically 6–12 months). It ensures ongoing adherence to best practices for data protection and operational reliability, making it especially relevant for SaaS and cloud service providers.
