COVID-19 pandemic has changed the size and shape of almost all the business entities globally. More so, it has had a double impact on people’s personal and professional lives and livelihoods. But as shown in this research report by McKinsey and Company, “Companies whose Industry 4.0 implementation is more mature, reported a stronger ability to respond to the COVID-19 crisis.”
Overall, we can say that companies which had already implemented digital automation technologies, were able to manage the risk of losing business continuity due to the social distancing and COVID-19 lockdown that the companies that had yet to start their digital automation journey.
2021 Focus – Data-Centric Decisions and Project Profitability Boost
Whizible did a survey to understand “What are the top focus areas of business leaders in 2021”. A majority of the respondents were from the professional services industry, mainly project-based businesses such as IT services, software products, and BFSI and consulting services.
As you can observe from the survey results, making data-driven or data-centric decisions and boosting project profitability tied with 28% of votes. The survey results also indicate that leaders want to focus on getting the house in order and using automation tools such as Whizible PSA, can come handy in speeding up that effort.
Traditional resource allocation methods are getting replaced by process and technology-driven resource management techniques, which is the third priority of the leadership teams in 2021.
The pandemic also paved the way for launching innovative products to support the “Next Normal” business scenario and technology businesses will be looking at innovation and new product development in 2021.
Another survey we conducted also made it clear that more than 70% of the project-based, professional services enterprises plan to adopt a hybrid operating model to conduct business, a combination of work from home (WFH) / or remote working and working in-person from the office.
